EXPRESS DROP 4TH CVL CONTEST

June 3, 2004

The Memorial Day weekend not only brought rain, wind and thunder, it also gave the Express another league loss as they were defeated for the second time this year by the Watkins Clippers 7-1 this past Sunday in Kimball.

The Clippers used a four run third inning to hand the Express their fourth Central Valley League loss of the season. Eric Malvin went 4-5 for the Clippers with a homerun and two doubles leading the Watkins offense. Bruce Geislinger pitched a complete game for the victors.

The Kimball offense couldn’t get anything going off Geislinger as they were only able to muster up a miserable seven hits on the day. The lone run for the Express came in the sixth inning on a rbi triple off the bat of Scott Marquardt.

Justin Hill started for the Express and takes the loss. Hill didn’t have his best stuff on the day as he was relieved by Joe Krippner in the fourth inning. Krippner pitched four innings before being relieved by Brooks Marquardt in the seventh inning.
