EXPRESS AVENGE EARLY SEASON LOSS TO LAKERS

June 7, 2004

Sunny skies and balmy temperatures greeted the Pearl Lake Lakers as they dropped anchor in town Sunday. The skies didn’t stay too sunny in the Lakers eyes as the Express sent them home with a 4-0 loss in CVL action.

The Express scored lone runs in the 1st, 2nd, 4th & 8th innings and Brooks Marquardt along with Joe Krippner teamed up to shut the Lakers out throwing seven and two innings of shut out ball respectively. Offensively Kimball was led by second baseman Brian Marquardt as he went 3-4 on the day with a double and an rbi. Pat Arnold went 2-4 with a double, one run scored and an rbi.

The win evened the season series with the Lakers as they took game one in Marty earlier this season 5-4.

New Ulm

This past Friday evening the Kimball boys of summer were down in beautiful New Ulm to take on the Brewers in exhibition action. The Express got a bit of revenge this year winning 8-4 after falling to the Brewers 4-3 in an extra inning contest last year.

Pat Arnold got the start for the Express and went seven innings allowing three runs in  picking up his third win of the season. Jeremy Kuechle came on in relief of Arnold in the seventh inning and  kept the Brewers pretty much in check the rest of the way only allowing one run.

The Express jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning sparked by a Brooks Marquardt double. They tallied one in the third inning, three in the seventh and two more in the eighth inning to give them a comfortable lead and the victory.
