MARQUARDT, TURCK KEY EXPRESS REGION 10C BERTH

Brooks Marquardt pitched nine complete innings and Nate Turck double home two runs in the sixth inning of Sunday’s CVL playoff game at Kimball Veterans Memorial Field to key the Express 4-0 victory over the Eden Valley Hawks qualifying them for Region 10C play.

After leading 1-0 through five innings the Express tallied three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Nate Turck two out, two run double and Brooks Marquardt’s rbi triple.

Brooks Marquardt went all nine innings in a shutout performance striking out five improving to 5-1 on the season. Nate Turck went 1-3 with a double, two rbi and a run scored to lead the Express offense. Mike Arnold was 2-3 with an rbi and Brooks Marquardt went 1-3 with a triple, a run scored and an rbi. 

The victory gives the Express a chance at back to back state tournament appearances as they start region play August 6^th in Watkins.

Before region 10C play gets underway the Express will play Saturday July 30 in a seeding game to decide the number one and two seeds in the CVL South. They will play the winner of Luxemburg and Eden Valley which play Wednesday evening in an elimination game. The Express opponent will have to beat them twice to take the number one seed away from Kimball. The Express overall record stands at 21-10.
